Misestimation of Impedance Values Within A Distribution Network Optimal Power Flow

Distribution networks are likely to be significantly impacted by the energy transition and numerous flexible agents will be connected there. Management algorithms within these networks are therefore becoming more complex and are required to take into account the physical constraints of the network. However, line impedances cannot be assumed to be perfectly known in a distribution network. Using misestimated values in a management algorithm cannot but result in suboptimalities and constraint violations. Considering the Optimal Power Flow as a reference for optimal management, the consequences of these misestimations are here outlined on an illustrative case. The performed sensitivity studies indicate that the statistical distribution used to describe the impedance errors does not influence the results. A combination of decentralized generators and flexible consumers within the same neighborhood limits the impact of misestimated impedances.
