Main Drivers and Regulatory Development Proposals For Relaying Protection Monitoring
Reliability of electrical power system (EPS) protection, automation and control (PAC) systems is critically important. Modern PAC IEDs can provide a lot of internal information about its software, hardware, settings and external circuits states, which, if properly used, can prevent its potential malfunctioning. This is rarely the case due to the huge number of installed PAC devices and high diversity of this information between different manufacturers, devices types and versions. Authors propose a framework of data structure, functional and communication requirements for automated PAC monitoring system which can be discussed within CIGRE, CIRED and IEEE working bodies and potentially standardized to ease the implementation of monitoring systems by European EPS.
