Optimal Resources Planning Algorithm For A Coordinated Multi-Energy System With Industrial Loads
Multi-energy systems (MES) are introduced as a potential solution to tackle the challenges addressed by the energy transition. However, the planning of MES, with mixed energy sectors, introduces a complex mixed-integer non-linear optimisation problem. Hence, a combined planning algorithm, with the electricity, heat and gas (H2 and CH4) sector is proposed in this paper, and a quantitative analysis of the MES operation is conducted. The analysis is done for a city-scale MES with a focus on industrial/commercial loads (electrical and thermal). As a further contribution, the simulation model optimises the capacities and locations of the components of MES to allow maximum cost optimal penetration of renewable energy resources.
