Impact of Structural Design of Dc Distribution Grids On Reliability of Supply
For future hybrid AC/DC and pure DC distribution grids, there are several degrees of freedom regarding the structural design. These significantly influence the reliability of supply. In order to derive recommendations reflecting the estimated system availability, planning processes for grids on medium and low voltage level can be extended by reliability assessment. Within this paper, the methodology for reliability analysis in these grids is presented. It is based on models for DC and hybrid AC/DC grids including power electronic converters for quasi-stationary system simulation. The case study on DC grids of different structures contains the application of the developed models and methods. Furthermore, the impact of different design options on the reliability of supply is analyzed.
